HISTORY:

On first sight, this vehicle does not appear to conform to the criteria of the museum of low mileage and original, near-new condition. Despite this, its history and its patina convinced me to let it join the collection.
This van was bought new by Mr Reynaud, owner of a BP petrol station in Bédarieux. After painting it in the company colours, he goes on to use the van for around 15 years. Then he stores it away in the petrol station garages for the next 40 years.
In 2017, Mr Reynaud’s daughter contacted me to offer the exceptional DS21ie of her father (see news October 2018). In the same space is also found this HY, stored at the same period, around 1976. The link that unites this car to the DS and the charm of its patina helped me decide to make the purchase.
After its long period of immobilisation, I had to replace the fuel lines, coolant, ignition and brakes. I also decided to completely strip-down the engine before cleaning the lubrication system, partially blocked by the old monograde oil of the era. This was also the opportunity to replace the valve seats and the big end bearings. The HY was then fit for service as it was on its first day.
