HISTORY:

This vehicle was bought by a Mr Caute, who was in the Navy. He used it for leisure until 1963 at which time the car was no longer used. Until 1968 he bought the road tax disc, which are still preserved. Time then stopped for the car … the interior is like new, the vehicle is completely original including the Pilote tyres that are over 60 years old. Car history, including insurance papers, warranty document, various letters and most importantly the ‘carte grise’ ( registration document ) written with a quill!  The identification plate of the owner is still attached to the glove-box. The driving licence of Mr Caute, delivered on 6th October 1937 was passed onto me. The last service date was in 1963 at 14,100 kms.
On re-starting the car in 2005, the engine was making a knocking noise, due to a broken connecting rod. That was without doubt the reason for the laying-up of the car, the owner thinking he will re-do the connecting rod, but never getting around to it. It is for this reason that the vehicle is conserved in this condition, with such a low mileage.
