HISTORY :
Ernst was a Citroen dealer in southern Germany. In 1992, he was unable to sell this new BX. Then in March 1993, the new Xantia arrived: this BX became definitely unsellable!
Ernst decided to quickly register it before the end of the year (30.12.93), and then deregistered it 5 days later. Otherwise it would never have been possible to sell the car, due to progressive anti-pollution laws coming into force in Germany. He put the car in his wife’s name, but she didn’t want it. The BX was put aside in the dealership, to be looked at later.
Ernst changed his job: he became a driving school instructor. He also changed his wife! She too didn’t want the BX. Finally, Ernst became ill: he suffered a stroke. He decided to sell all his equipment and cars. The BX that had finally left the dealership was on the move again.
Sebastian Siegart was a collector of BXs. He was active in a classic car club (the CVC). In 2022, a member of the club told him about this BX and put him in touch with Ernst. Ernst asked Sebastien to help him sell everything. In exchange, he agreed to sell him the previously unsellable item.
Sebastian decided to make it roadworthy. After changing a mysteriously broken crankshaft angle sensor, the car ran like it was its first day. But he hesitated to register it as a collector’s vehicle, for fear of using it and losing its minimal mileage.
In the meantime, a visitor to the museum asked me to help him get some LHS fluid for his old DS. It was he who suggested to Sebastian that he passes the BX over to me.
After polishing and cleaning the engine bay, the newcomer became part of the exclusive club of classic cars still being run in.
